PrintMap3D
PrintMap3D creates 3D printable models of real places — meaningful locations turned into terrain and city models you can hold. These answers cover what it does, what you can download, where the data comes from, and how to use the models responsibly.
What is PrintMap3D?
PrintMap3D is a tool for creating 3D printable terrain and city models from real places. You pick a location, choose a style, and generate a print-ready 3D model of that area.
What can I download?
Depending on the available export options, you can download your model as STL, GLB, OBJ or 3MF. Tiled exports are delivered as a ZIP of separate print-ready files.
Where does the map and terrain data come from?
Map features come from OpenStreetMap via the Overpass API, and terrain and elevation come from the public AWS Terrain Tiles / Mapzen dataset. See our Data Sources & Licenses page for the full list and the licences that apply.
Do map tiles enter my exported model?
No. The visible map background is only there to help you choose an area in your browser. Exported models are generated from terrain and elevation data and map feature data — the raster map tiles are never part of an STL, GLB, OBJ, 3MF or ZIP export.
Can I use it for gifts or personal prints?
Yes. PrintMap3D is designed for personal printable keepsakes and memories, gifts, model railway terrain, architecture and site-context models, and educational use.
Can I sell prints made with PrintMap3D?
Don't assume the models come with broad or automatic commercial rights. Generated models may include third-party open geospatial data and may be subject to third-party licences, attribution requirements, and other rights. Before selling prints or using models commercially, review the applicable terms — see our Terms and Data Sources & Licenses — and consult a qualified professional if needed.
Does PrintMap3D sell ownership of the underlying map or terrain data?
No. PrintMap3D provides generated model files and exports. Downloading a model does not transfer ownership of the underlying map, terrain, elevation or geospatial datasets.
How do I report a data, attribution, copyright, trademark, or design-right concern?
For licensing, attribution, or intellectual-property questions, email legal@printmap3d.com. For copyright or trademark infringement, DMCA, or takedown requests, email abuse@printmap3d.com. Include the affected URL, the location or model, the type of concern, and a short description. Our Data Sources & Licenses page lists the data and attribution details. We may remove, disable or restrict access to a specific model, page or export where a credible concern is reported.
